Kyrgyzstan: Mission & Objective

The name “Kyrgyz” means “the descendents of forty maidens.” The Kyrgyzstan flag has forty sun rays to represent the Kyrgyz heritage.  More than any other Central Asian people, the Kyrgyz have clung to their traditional way of life as nomadic cattle raisers. They have also maintained their tribal organization. Today, the Kyrgyz live in one of the highest plateaus of the world.

CIC Mission Inc. has chosen to walk alongside its Kyrgyz church partners in their effort to catalyze a Christ centered multiplying, bi-vocational and transformative church-planting movement wherever Kyrgyz live.

Understanding Kyrgyzstan: A Land of Challenges and Opportunity

Kyrgyzstan offers a unique mission field for church-planting due to its spiritual needs and strategic location. As a predominantly Muslim country, with a history of Soviet secularism and a growing openness to Christianity among certain groups, Kyrgyzstan presents opportunities to share the gospel in relational and culturally sensitive ways. Kyrgyzstan conversion to Christianity is often seen as a betrayal of cultural and religious identity.

How You Can Pray

Please donate to share words of support

Ask God to prepare the hearts of Kyrgyz individuals, especially in unreached communities, to receive the gospel with openness and understanding. Pray that cultural and religious barriers will be overcome through God’s grace.

Lift up local church leaders to share the gospel boldly and wisely, navigating government restrictions and cultural sensitivities. Pray for strength in the face of opposition and for creative strategies in ministry.

Ask for God’s provision in training and equipping leaders who will plant and shepherd churches. Pray for house churches to multiply and for leaders to remain rooted in scripture and led by the Holy Spirit.

Needs and Opportunities

The Kyrgyz church faces both pressing needs and exciting opportunities for growth.  The Kyrgyz work ethic is strong and the desire to make Christ known all across the land is shared by the existing church leaders.

The Kyrgyz church has identified the following needs:
