Turkey: Mission & Objective
Turkey, often referred to as the “Bridge Between East and West,” is a nation rich in cultural heritage and historical significance, serving as a crossroads for diverse civilizations and ideas. While the country is predominantly Muslim, its unique geographic and cultural position offers exceptional opportunities for gospel engagement and meaningful cultural exchange between the East and the West.
CIC Mission Inc. partners with Turkish Christians to catalyze a Christ-centered, bi-vocational, and transformative church-planting movement across this strategically important nation, seeking to foster spiritual growth, unity, and a lasting impact for the gospel.
Understanding Turkey: A Land of Challenges and Opportunity
Turkey’s strategic location and religious makeup present both significant challenges and unique opportunities for mission work. Despite societal resistance to Christianity, there is a growing interest in spiritual matters, particularly among the youth in urban centers.
- Turkey’s secular government offers some religious freedom, but Christian converts face social pressures and discrimination.
- Many rural communities are unreached, emphasizing the need for targeted ministry.
- Youth in urban areas, influenced by Western culture, are open to exploring Christianity.
- A growing number of Turkish believers are eager to engage in evangelism and discipleship, despite societal challenges.
How You Can Pray
Pray for Turkish believers to stand firm in their faith, building strong communities of fellowship and encouragement.
Ask God to open the hearts of Turkish people, especially youth, to the message of Christ.
Pray for the growth of relational evangelism and discipleship efforts throughout the country.
Needs and Opportunities
Turkey’s church is experiencing growth, but it faces significant challenges that require ongoing support to fully thrive in this complex and often difficult environment. Despite the hardships, the church’s potential to impact both Turkish society and the broader region is immense. As the church navigates the pressures of societal norms, religious tensions, and limited resources, targeted efforts are needed to ensure its sustainability and effectiveness.
The following areas of need represent critical opportunities for ministry, where strategic focus and support can empower the church to expand its reach, deepen discipleship, and strengthen its foundation for the future.
- Training local leaders for church planting and discipleship to ensure growth.
- Developing outreach programs, especially in rural areas with limited gospel access.
- Engaging youth through sports, arts, and education for connection and discipleship.
- Expanding house churches and small groups to build supportive faith communities.
